My dear friends,
God has been moving in and through ALERT. Much has been happening over this past year and much is in the works for this coming year! What an exciting time to be serving God. God has granted ALERT with a bold vision for this coming year and you are a major part of making this happen!

I wish to ask for your prayer as we have been again asked to return to the Republic of Congo to continue our ministry there. We have recieved many good reports from the pastors who attended training last year and we have been again asked to come and teach. ALERT Africa would like to go and continue to see both more pastors trained and to support the work for the community development workers as they are helping many women provide for their families. Please pray that the Lord would open the door He would want us to walk through as we continue this good work.

Dear Partner in the ministry,
In my spring newsletter, I requested prayers for an upcoming conference in August 7th to 9th, 2014 in Bukavu (Congo). The goal of the conference is to engage local churches, the intellegentia of the area, businessmen and government officials to wage a war against poverty which has been damaging the life of children, women and men in communities. The teaching will be based on the textbook: “The Poverty of Nations: A Sustainable Solution” co-authored by the eminent theologianWayne Grudem and the economist Barry Asmus. Through the teaching, discussion and workshop we hope to communicate biblical principles in the healing of a nation and the creation of wealth for the welfare of the poor. The opportunity is unique in bringing these layers to reflect together on the destiny of the population with a Christ-centered perspective.
God has been gracious to us by providing a nice site for the conference outside the city and food at a very good deal already secured. However, the budget is short of $2,250 to accommodate 150 participants for three days at the dormitory. We have already raised $500. The cost at the dormitory is $15 per person for three nights.
Along with your regular support for ALERT, please consider helping fund the accommodation/meals for participants. A gift of $150, for example, will provide meals and sleeping accommodations for 15 participants. Please, send your tax deductible check to Global Horizons Inc., P.0. Box 120494 St. Paul, MN 55112, and note on the check “For 2014 ALERT conference”. Funds are needed no later than July 15.
Thank you for investing as Christians in Congo's people and her future!
Executive Director of ALERT
